Help fund a healthier future
Many of you will be familiar with our University of Otago, Christchurch, building at Christchurch Hospital. But few of you might know of the many exciting research and teaching developments that happen at our campus.
In 1973 we welcomed our first intake of medical students. Since then we have been the hub for medical education and health research in Canterbury.
We are constantly innovative in our teaching; from providing latest-technology manikins for students to practise difficult procedures on to new ways of instilling professionalism.
We also punch above our weight for producing health research of national and international importance. Some of our researchers are recognised as among the best in their field, including experts in heart disease, free radical science, the health and development of Christchurch children and myriad mental and physical health areas.
We have always been proud of our campus. Now we want you to be a part of it. We have chosen four ‘jewels in our crown’ that we invite you to support.
We are launching a fundraising appeal to enhance what we do – and in turn help improve the health and well-being of people in Canterbury.
These four jewels are some of our top research and teaching initiatives. They are:
- The Christchurch Heart Institute.
- The Centre for Free Radical Research
- The Simulation Centre
- The Carrell-Espiner Postdoctoral Fellowships and Clinical Training Fellowships fund
We hope you enjoy learning more about what our University does. Your help and support are appreciated.
