Phoebe Heenan completed her Master’s degree in the Developmental Biology Laboratory at the University of Otago, Dunedin researching ancestral transcription factors common to, and vital in, the embryonic development of different animals.

She is currently a PhD student with the Department of Medicine, under the supervision of Professor Richard Gearry, Associate Professor Jacqueline Keenan and Dr Catherine Wall of the University of Otago as well as Professor Nicole Roy and Dr Wayne Young of AgResearch in Palmerston North.

Her projects aims to identify the mechanisms of acute gastrointestinal symptoms caused by a reaction to diet in individuals with and without irritable bowel syndrome.
