Research interests

Belinda has worked in the field of Diabetes as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for twenty years, working across the health sector including acute, community and primary care; with teaching a key component to both consumers and health professionals alike.

In 2014 Belinda was one of the first RNs to gain prescribing rights in the specialty of diabetes treatment, and in 2016 she qualified as a Remote Area Nurse working in some of the most distant parts of the Australian outback with indigenous communities.

Since February 2019, Belinda has been appointed as a Professional Practice Fellow at the Centre for Post Graduate Nursing Studies at the University of Otago, Christchurch. She is the convener for the NURS445 paper - Introduction to Clinical Nursing Practice, and lectures on the courses NURS429, NURS427, NURS426 and NURS413.

Belinda is in the process of completing a Masters of Health Science with a research topic of “Improved care of the inpatient with diabetes, by regular opportunistic diabetes education for nursing staff”.
