Dr Khoon Lim’s contribution to research publishing is being acknowledged with an award of Outstanding Reviewer 2017 from IOP Publishing. He has been judged by its editorial teams as one of 18 reviewers internationally who are recognised for their high quality and timely journal article reviews.
“Reviewers play a vital role in scholarly publishing, helping to improve and highlight the most important work in their field” said IOP Publishing’s Senior Managing Editor, Kim Eggleton, when she communicated the welcomed news to Dr Lim.
Dr Lim practices as a biomedical engineer specialising in polymer chemistry. He researches out of the University of Otago’s Christchurch campus as part of the Christchurch Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering (CReaTE) research group. There he leads a number of projects using a class of polymers know as hydrogels as tissue engineering matrices for a variety of medical applications.
Dr Lim volunteered his time in 2017 as a peer reviewer for research manuscripts submitted to the Biomedical Engineering and Physics Express journal.
“I am very proud of Khoon’s achievement” said Associate Professor Tim Woodfield, the research group’s principle investigator. “Peer reviewing is an important skill and can divert considerable time away from a researcher’s own publishing efforts. This is not only a prestigious award that Khoon has won, but it’s also tangible proof of his generosity and capability as a scientist.”
