A group of cancer researchers from the University's Christchurch campus have shared their favourite recipes to raise money for charity.

The Mackenzie Cancer Research Group (MCRG) is a tight-knit group of researchers, clinicians and postgraduate students who regularly dream up fundraising opportunities to support the Cancer Society. Their latest initiative is a cookbook featuring recipes from keen chefs from the Christchurch health campus.

Vanessa Lattimore is an assistant postdoctoral research fellow with the MCRG. She says the group competes in the Relay for Life event each year to raise money for the Cancer Society and are always after "new and exciting ways" to fundraise for the charity.

“The recipe book was conceptualised after we realised that many members in our group are very talented in the kitchen, both with baking and cooking. Compiling some of our favourite recipes into a cookbook seemed like a great way to not only share these recipes with each other, but also to help us with our fundraising goals.”

Fifty copies of the book have so far been printed, and are selling well.
