Professor Tony Kettle, Bee Bathish, Professors Christine Winterbourn and Mark Hampton

Members of the Centre for Free Radical Research were recipients of UOC Value Awards at the 2018 Academic Welcome ceremony held in the Rolleston Lecture Theatre last week.

Professor Tony Kettle received a Respect Award recognising his inspiration to staff, students, and the wider community with his passion for science and ability to communicate very complex theories to non-scientists.

Bee Bathish was the recipient of a Leadership Award relating to her time as president of the School's Postgraduate Student Association (PSOC). The award recognised her efforts towards ensuring that PSOC is relevant to all postgrad students, not just in relation to social events but also to policy and processes within departments.

Professors Christine Winterbourn and Mark Hampton both received a Leadership Award for Teaching to acknowledge their demonstrated sustained outstanding competence in direct teaching and/or supervision, course development and/or innovation, and contribution to the UOC teaching and learning environment.

Haematologist Dr Sean MacPherson was also recognised at the UOC Academic Welcome by the 2017 fourth year medical students. They voted him as the CMSA Best Vertical Module Teacher last year.
