Suzanne Luty

Associate Professor

Sue works at the Department of Psychological Medicine, University of Otago Christchurch, and the Mothers and Babies Perinatal Service, in Christchurch.

She has a strong interest in mood disorders, interpersonal functioning, psychotherapy, perinatal psychiatry and infant mental health.

She has been an investigator on research projects in all these areas and is an expert trainer and supervisor of Interpersonal Psychotherapy.

She has over 50 publications and written several book chapters on similar subjects.

Sue Luty co-convenes and hosts a biennial symposium on Perspectives of Women’s Mental Health in Christchurch which is nationally acclaimed.

As a member of the Academic Department of Psychological Medicine she teaches undergraduate students and has also developed a broader based postgraduate curriculum in perinatal psychiatry and psychotherapy training.

She is mother to three girls and in her spare time can be found skiing, mountain biking or sea kayaking!

Alongside Alan, Sue is part of the Consultant Psychiatrist leadership team of the Walshe Centre.

She is currently responsible for designing and rolling out our new curriculum for the College’s 2012 Fellowship Pathway and in coordinating psychotherapy training.
