Clinical Senior Lecturer
Alan is a General Adult psychiatrist who completed his specialist training in psychiatry (FRANZCP) in Christchurch in mid-1995, since which time he has worked as a specialist with the Psychiatric Emergency Service.
As well as this clinical experience, he has had many years of involvement with medical student and registrar education, including 6 years as an associate examiner on the RANZCP Case History Committee.
For 10 years, he was involved in the process of advising the NZ Medical Council on Overseas Training Specialists wishing to gain Vocational Registration in New Zealand, most of this time as Chair of the RANZCP Committee doing this work.
He also had 6 years on the Bi-national RANZCP Committee which advised on International Medical Graduates wishing to join the College.
He has had a longstanding interest in psychiatric training from an international perspective.
Alan joined the Christchurch Psychiatry Registrar Training Programme as Director of Training in February 2013.
