Staff and students from the Mackenzie Cancer Research Group travelled to Ashburton to talk about their cancer research at an information evening on 4 May 2017 entitled, What’s new in cancer research? Genes and Lifestyle.
The event was hosted by the local Cancer Society and the Canterbury Comprehensive Cancer Centre (C4) and attracted almost 400 people to the Ashburton Trust Event Centre.
The topics presented ranged from inherited cancer risk to immunotherapy, to the effect of obesity on cancer therapy, to vitamin C and ended with clinical trials.
Associate Professor Gabi Dachs was impressed by the turnout and said the feedback from the public has been overwhelmingly positive.
