Laboratories

PhD student using Iodinating machineThis is the benchtop part of our 'benchtop to bedside' research philosophy.

The cardiac and respiratory treatments you receive in hospital, and preferably the preventative measures that keep you out of hospital start in labs.

The tours will include:

  • Tours of the labs working on Cancer and Infectious disease research
  • Tours of the labs working in Genetics and Bioengineering research
  • The labs will be demonstrating of the sort of activities conducted there

Cancer research and Infection research

  • Tour times: 1.30pm and 3.30 pm

Cancer research

  • The cancer tour at 1.30 will concentrate on bowel cancer and vitamin C
  • The cancer tour at 3.30 will concentrate on breast cancer and obesity

Bioengineering research and Genetics research

  • Tour times: 1.30pm and 3.30 pm

Bioengineering research

The CReaTE part of the Bioengineering and Genetics tour will include seeing 3D printing of Bone and/or Cartilage scaffolds.

The participants will also be able to make their own hydrogels that they can take with them home as a memory of the tour.

We will show cells growing in different biomaterials under a microscope. So it is a sneak peek into how Technology, Chemistry and Biology comes together to make up the multidisciplinary field that is Tissue engineering and Regenerative Medicine.

Simulation Centre
