Great Scots: Isabel Fraser – Lady Principal

Professor Barbara Brookes examines the life and legacy of Isabel Fraser (1863-1942). Like many early women graduates of the University of Otago, Isabel Fraser became a teacher, one of a cohort who helped raise the standard of girls' education in New Zealand. From 1894 she served as Principal of Wanganui Girls' College, the largest girls' boarding school in New Zealand, before becoming the founding Principal of the first Presbyterian boarding school for girls, Iona College.
