The Communications Office provides staff and external media a range of resources to facilitate effective, consistent communication related to the University.

Image Library

Maintained by Marketing Services, the University’s Image Library is available for staff and external media to browse and request images.

Media Expertise Database

The database is a guide to specialised knowledge at Otago, with a particular focus on serving the needs of print or broadcast media professionals seeking stories, comment, interviews, or background, as well as assisting prospective postgraduate students to find appropriate supervisors.

University Media Policy

The policy ensures that the University’s response to any media enquiry is coordinated, professional and provides accurate, timely and clear information. As well, it clarifies the roles and responsibilities related to media enquiries.

University Social Media Policy and Guidelines

The policy and guidelines covers the setting up and use of social media accounts by staff in the course of their employment.

Writing Style Guide

The guide is designed to help ensure writing style – whether for internal or external audiences, written for print or online – is consistent and maintains a professional standard across the University. It is not designed for academic writing.
