Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for International Students

All international students who are currently in New Zealand and who are admitted to start full-time bachelor’s studies in 2023 (starting either semester 1 or semester 2) for the first time at a New Zealand university, will be awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for International Students valued at NZ$10,000.

The scholarship will be credited to the student’s tuition fee account.

There is no additional application process required to be offered this scholarship. Eligibility will be assessed as part of your admission application. Formal scholarship offers will be sent via eVision (the University's application system).

Accommodation guarantee

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for International Students offer also includes a guaranteed place in University accommodation, either in an Otago residential college or a UniFlat (subject to a satisfactory reference and completing an accommodation application).

You apply for accommodation via your eVision account once you have submitted an application for studies. In order to be considered in the first round of accommodation placements for semester 1 (February) 2023, your completed accommodation application must be submitted by 30 September 2022 (note the CCRF reference must be completed by schools and is due by 15 September).

This scholarship and accommodation guarantee offer is in recognition of the additional challenges international students in New Zealand have faced as a result of the COVID‑19 pandemic, particularly in being unable to make a return trip to visit their families and in support of their decision to stay in the country to commence university studies at the University of Otago.

For more information regarding this scholarship, refer to the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for International Students
