    Overview

An introduction to the clinical procedures used for examination, diagnosis and the management of patients in clinical dental practice. Properties of biomaterials and their use for restorative procedures.

The objectives of this paper are to introduce topics in clinical dentistry to enable students to reach a level of clinical competence aligned with their stage of learning whereby they are able to operate safely in a clinical environment, engage in interporfessional learning with other oral health programmes, undertake prevention of plaque-related diseases and carry out basic restorative procedures in the clinical management of patients.

The content and delivery of this paper will be integrated and coordinated with the other 2nd year BDS papers, DENT 262 and DENT 263. The paper is managed in three integrated modules that cover the various aspects of the course.
