    Overview

Advanced study of controls on the exercise of public power, with particular focus on judicial review.

The emphasis of this paper, formerly known as Advanced Public Law, is on judicial review, building on the introduction you had in LAWS 204 Public Law. Almost any area of public life is potentially subject to judicial review, and contexts vary widely: from applications against Ministers to contractors for health services, schools, parole boards, welfare agencies, city councils and lower courts (especially in the area of criminal procedure). This paper will involve an intense study on which bodies are amenable to judicial review and why, as well as engaging in critical analysis of the development of administrative law both here and abroad.
