Examination of the processes of perceiving and producing speech, including categorical perception, speech development, and their relation to linguistic theory. Includes a research component.
Psycholinguistics is the study of how our mind and body actually process language. Each year, the students and lecturer will select an area upon which to conduct a short research project. We then jointly read the literature, develop a methodology, collect data, and analyse it. The emphasis is on hands-on research with tasks shared among the group.
