Current issues in freshwater ecology related to the management and conservation of rivers and lakes. Topics include disturbance, biomanipulation, climate change, biomonitoring and biodiversity.
Review and discussion of current topics in freshwater ecology. Students also have the opportunity to present a seminar and review article on a topic of their choice.

Tutorial sessions examining topical issues in freshwater ecology, with formats including presentations, discussions, debates, and a field trip when possible. Students also select a topic of interest to research in more detail for an oral presentation and review article.
- Teaching Arrangements
Tutorial sessions led by teaching staff will address topical issues in freshwater ecology in a variety of formats. Students will give presentations and participate in discussions about basic and applied concepts in freshwater ecology. Students will also independently research a topic of their choice subject to approval by the course co-ordinator. They will present their findings to the class followed by discussion and feedback, then will prepare a review article synthesising the literature on their topic of choice.
