    Overview

Interactions of biological and physical processes in the ocean and how physical processes regulate productivity and distribution of organisms in oceanic and coastal ecosystems, from the microscale to the macroscale.

Understanding the relationships among biology, chemistry, physics and geology in the coastal and nearshore zone is essential, especially in a time of changing climate and increasing concern about environmental degradation. This paper explores current and relevant interdisciplinary topics in the marine environment, ranging from the very small scale to the global. We will learn from experts, consider the published literature, and get our feet wet in the field (both coastal and open ocean) as well.
