Detailed special topics in geophysical theory, data acquisition, processing and analysis.
This paper draws on the geophysical research specialties found in the Department of Geology. Generally, this includes controlled source seismology, paleomagnetism, and seismic hazard analysis.

- Not all 400-level GEOL papers will be available in any one year. Decisions will be based on enrolment numbers and will be discussed with students at the start of the academic year.
- This paper is suitable for someone with a BSc (or equivalent) in a physical science.
- Paper Structure
- One 90-minute seminar per week for the first and second semesters plus assorted lab
and field sessions to support topics being covered in geophysical data collection
(field and lab), processing (lab) and analysis (lab).
Specific topics covered in a particular year will depend on the research interests of teaching staff and student interest.
Laboratory sessions make use of the department-™s suite of geophysical instruments and software.
Assessment is typically split evenly between internal (ongoing project work during the year) and external (final exam at the end of the second semester).
