Special needs dentistry is concerned with the oral health care of people with an intellectual disability, or who are affected by other medical, physical, or psychiatric conditions.
Specialists identify and use individually appropriate methods or techniques to prevent or treat oral health problems in their patients, or devise special dental treatment plans where a patient's conditions necessitate them.
Special Needs Dentistry is available as a subject of study for the:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (PGDipClinDent)
- Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent)
