Andrew Nicholson aims to beat the outdoor cycle 24 hour distance record

Wednesday 12 November 2014 2:28pm

On November 27-28 (weather permitting!) Andrew Nicholson will attempt to beat the current NZ 24 hour outdoor cycle distance in support of CTCR. He will ride at the Seddon Park Velodrome, Mosgiel.

Triple Olympian (in speed skating) Andrew comes with a varied, impressive sporting history, and a family with whom there is good healthy rivalry in grueling events; pushing bodies and minds. Brother Chris Nicholson has recently overcome a cardiac arrest and continues to ride competitively.

Of this particular ride, Andrew says:

This is a personal challenge against the clock, and an effort to support cancer research.

Inspired by indoor record holder Eugene Collins' fundraising throughout his training and final ride, Andrew elected to support CTCR. This choice became all the more relevant upon hearing about a friend's recent cancer diagnosis.

Instantly this bought more meaning to my attempt, and the cause was decided. I would ride for people like Warren who deserved a longer go at life.
