CTCR established and emerging researchers were recognised with Lottery Health grants supporting research, specialist equipment, and a scholarship.

Congratulations to Elspeth, Augustine and Kirsten!

Translational research project

Dr Elspeth Gold (Department of Anatomy), received $50,222 for her search for a signature indicative of aggressive prostate cancer in tissue biopsies.

Research equipment grant

Dr Augustine Chen (Department of Biochemistry), received $50,000 for shared equipment for automated high throughput cell imaging.

PhD scholarship

Ms Kirsten Ward-Hartstonge (Department of Microbiology & Immunology), received $120,000 for her study to understand how the host immune response improves patient prognosis in colorectal cancer.
Kirsten's thesis is supervised by Dr Ros Kemp and co-supervised by Professor John McCall, and Michael Jameson (Waikato).
