A brand is more than just a logo
A brand is the essence of our own unique story. Part of the role of the Marketing Office is to ensure the University of Otago brand is represented in a consistent and authentic way.
In order to let people know about the great work the University is doing and to inform people about what we have to offer we need to market ourselves. Any communication which bears the University logo needs to represent the University's proud name in a professional manner. The University of Otago is a brand. The University's logo is a visual representation of the brand. It is Design Services job to create effective designs for the client while maintaining the integrity of the University of Otago brand style.
The Brand guide assists with the correct use of the University logo, colours and fonts. It is important that this guide is read and understood in order to maintain the integrity of the University logo.

Sub-brands are created for Divisions and Departments to help identify them to both internal and external audiences.
Please email the Design Manager to discuss your unique sub-brand.
As part of the University's broader marketing campaigns, we sometimes create campaign specific logos and tag lines. The use of this campaign branding is determined by the Head of Marketing.
The current marketing tag line is 'Only Otago'.
In 2019 the University of Otago is celebrating it's 150 year anniversary. A range of logos have been developed to help communicate and promote the event.
