Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research (EDOR) is a recipient of funds raised by three senior students at John McGlashan College, for research into diabetes.

Toby Hope, Jacob Cotton and Mitchell Park raised more than $3000 by running/walking the Greenstone Caples loop and the Hollyford track over three days, as part of a McGlashan Challenge. They have donated this money to EDOR and the Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust.

Inspired by family members with type 1 diabetes, the boys were keen to make a difference by supporting research in this area. With World Diabetes Day being observed this week (Tuesday, 14 November), this generous donation is very timely. The funds will be used in a research project led by EDOR member Dr Ben Wheeler, which aims to find new technologies that will make control of type 1 diabetes easier for teenagers.
