Young Foods NZ is part of the First Foods NZ study, which aims to understand what (and how) our young tamariki are eating, right from their first introduction to foods through to four years of age.

There is a big gap in our knowledge about what our young children in Aotearoa New Zealand are eating today, as the last national children's nutrition survey was undertaken nearly twenty years ago. The First Foods NZ Study will enable us to find out what children are eating now and how approaches such as baby-led weaning, or products like baby food pouches, are influencing current food choices.

This multi-centre study involves several institutions, including a number of EDOR researchers. EDOR member Associate Professor Lisa Te Morenga, based at Massey University, is leading the Wellington arm of the study, and is currently recruiting for the Young Foods study.
