As well as finding better ways to manage and treat type 2 diabetes, EDOR researchers are always looking for ways to stop people getting this disease in the first place.
Type 2 diabetes is largely a preventable disease and much of the loss in quality of life, premature deaths and healthcare costs associated with this disease could be avoided if we can find ways to prevent people developing this chronic long-term condition.
With obesity being a major risk factor for developing type 2 diabetes, one arm of our prevention-related research focuses on preventing obesity, especially in children.
