Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research (EDOR) members have been successful in obtaining Health Research Council (HRC) Pacific project grants.
Dr Rosalina Richards, Associate Professor Barbara Galland, EDOR director Professor Rachael Taylor and colleague Associate Professor Ruth Fitzgerald, have been awarded funding for 32 months to investigate sleep and well-being among Pacific children and adolescents.
Recent research by EDOR members has identified that obesity can be tackled by simple sleep interventions. This new project will explore Pacific perspectives about sleep, health and interventions, to help inform effective sleep interventions for these communities.
Dr Ofa Dewes, a member of the EDOR advisory board, has also been successful in obtaining an HRC Pacific project grant to investigate the biological differences between Pacific adolescents in the way they respond to sugar.
