Co-design of health research empowers communities

Tuesday, 19 September 2017

Dr Lisa Te Morenga, EDOR and Healthier Lives National Science Challenge researcher, is part of a team designing a smartphone app to help Kiwis become healthier.

The app has been developed using a ground-breaking ‘co-design’ approach, meaning that the communities it’s designed to serve have been involved right through the design process. The app tracks not just physical health, but includes elements of mental and spiritual health, and whānau or family wellbeing.

The OL@-OR@ (“Ola Ora”) project team has developed this mobile health (mHealth) tool in partnership with Māori and Pasifika Communities, funded by the Healthier Lives National Science Challenge.
