Congratulations to our Director Emma Wyeth (Kāi Tahu, Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Mutunga) who has been promoted to Senior Lecturer above the bar in Hauora Māori.
Emma grew up in one of her papakāika, Karitāne, and also has strong connections to many other Ngāi Tahu communities. She has a background in genetics and has been working in Māori Public Health for over 10 years. The majority of her research aims to understand and improve Māori engagement and experiences with the health system, the majority of which has focused on Māori injury and disability outcomes.
She is passionate about reducing and eliminating inequities in order to improve outcomes for Māori. Emma is excited about the recent redevelopment of the Ngāi Tahu Māori Health Research Unit and is looking forward to advancing its commitment to Māori health equity.
