Research

Bronwen is a research fellow in the Social and Behavioural Research Unit and the Injury Prevention Research Unit within the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine. She has been involved in public health research for 30 years and completed a Master of Public Health in 2003 on work-related fatal injury.

Bronwen’s primary role is to be the project manager for public health and has done so in a diverse range of topic areas including sport and recreational related injury, work-related injury, the primary prevention of cancer, and health and wellbeing. Her current projects are:

  • Sun exposure of adolescents in both school and recreational environments
  • A systematic literature review and meta-analysis of interventions to reduce exposure to ultraviolet radiation in adolescents
  • Structured literature reviews of:
    • The physical and psychosocial health and wellbeing of healthcare staff
    • Adverse events to patients in the healthcare system
  • A cohort study on the quality of life in elderly renal dialysis patients
