Research in the Developmental Genetics and Pathology Group

Research in the Developmental Genetics and Pathology Group revolves around two broad themes:

  • Understanding growth and patterning of tissues in relation to function.
  • Investigating altered genetic control mechanisms, and identifying opportunities for therapeutic intervention in developmentally abnormal and malignant tissues.

The principal themes of our research are to identify fundamental processes underlying growth, patterning, and survival of cells and tissues in the body.

Despite the very broad nature of this interest, we are focusing on specific genes involved in key processes. Our reasoning is that, as is often the case in biology, features discovered in one system are paradigmatic for many others.
