Professional Profile
I am an experienced educator with a passion for leadership and growing kaiako practice, especially in the early stages of their career. My approach is steeped in kotahitanga; leadership by bringing everyone together with a shared purpose. This is supported by my personal skills centred upon manaakitanga (the abundance of generosity, humour and care) alongside whanaungatanga (the ability of building warm and trusting professional relationships).
My teaching experience includes many years in the primary setting before working as a Resource Teacher for Learning and Behaviour (RTLB) where I worked alongside both primary and secondary schools. A large focus of my work has been working collaboratively with schools to support diverse learning and behaviour needs within their individual context to improve outcomes for ākonga. Through this approach I have facilitated change at an individual, group or wider systemic level across the school environment.
My expertise includes
- Supporting PCTs and mentors to understand the requirements for gaining full certification and to grow mentor practice
- Collaborating with school leadership to design quality induction and mentoring programmes for provisionally certified teachers
- Experience working across Primary and Secondary settings
- Mentoring and coaching
- Inclusive design: experience adapting the curriculum and learning environment to support all ākonga
