The University of Otago College of Education Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching is an advanced course and is designed for qualified early childhood, primary and secondary teachers. This qualification applies the study of research and theory to professional practice.
This programme requires the equivalent of one year of full-time study, comprising EDUC440, EDUC441 + 80 further points of 400-level EDUC papers.
The admission requirement for the PGDipTchg is a completed Bachelor's degree in any subject(s) appropriate to teaching, an equivalent qualification, or professional and scholarly experience satisfactory to the College of Education. Experienced teachers who do not hold a degree may be considered for admission.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (PGDipTchg) maybe endorsed in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). If you wish to do the endorsed version, then your programme comprises EDUC423, EDUC441, 40 points of 400-level ICT-related EDUC papers, and 40 further points of 400-level EDUC papers. Alternatively you can complete the Postgraduate Diploma unendorsed.
