Above: 666: also said further advertisements for an insecticide, obscure yellow tin plates at the bottom of walls, to the quiet delight of the ConsulUTV, 188.

The tin plates (this one on the back wall of the Borda Gardens) advertise not an insecticide but a medicinal cure-all effective against coughs, colds, 'flu and nasal congestion.

Left: ¡Box! said an advertisement. ARENA TOMALÍN. Frente al Jardín Xichotancatl. Domingo 8 de Noviembre de 1938. 4 Emocionantes Peleas - UTV, 52.

Boxing advertisements like this were a feature of Cuernavaca walls in the 1930s. Lowry at the point of composition had a flier like this in his possession, and presumably quoted from it exactly; but 8 November 1938 was a Tuesday, not a Sunday (however, the days and dates are true for 1936, when he first arrived in Cuernavaca).
