The house, on the Calle Humboldt directly opposite the Calle las Casas in Cuernavaca became increasingly unrecognisable as the house of the book, Jacques' zacuali. One of the towers had been knocked down by 1945 (Dark as the Grave, 140); the other has since disappeared; and the shabby facade gives no hint of its former impressive stature (photo taken 1982). More recently, the building has been restored as the 'Baja el volcán' restaurant and guesthouse, the owners accentuating the Lowry connections.
