'Only on the next page, I recall, was a picture of the Emden' UTV, 184.

The Emden, a light cruiser, was the flagship of the German naval forces in the southern hemisphere during World War I. Engaged by the Australian cruiser HMAS Sydney off the Coco islands in November 1914, her captain Karl von Müller ordered she be run aground to prevent her from sinking (see below).
