It was on this bridge the Consul had once suggested to him he make a film about Atlantis.UTV, 16.

Laruelle probably has in mind the film Women of Atlantis, or L'Atlantide, produced by Jacques Feyder in 1921 [Kilgallin, 136]; the silent movie was based upon the story by P. Benoît, and a soundtrack version was made by G.W. Pabst in 1932. The story tells how two soldiers serving in Africa discover the lost city of Atlantis, whose queen, Antinea, has the power to make all men fall in love with her; one of the soldiers resists, with disastrous consequences.
