Peter’s advice to learners

Give your self the gift of limiting outside distractions and bring yourself fully to the life changing opportunities of the programme.

Peter on working at Executive Education

In our work with Executive Education at Otago we see leaders growing significantly, not just in their work but also in their personal lives. It’s very, very satisfying work.

Peter on his role at Executive Education

I see my primary role as exploring the space between strategic leadership and the personal foundations of positivity, creativity and mindfulness that make great leadership possible. I find it a tremendously stimulating space to work in.

I’ve a strong interest in complexity, creativity and positivity in leadership and in the personal foundations of emotionality, character and alignment that underlie effective organisational leadership.

Background and experience

I teach and research leadership at the University of Canterbury. For the last few years I’ve been the Director of Management Development (and the UC MBA).

My consulting experience spans over twenty-five years and includes facilitation, coaching, advisory and developmental roles with the senior management teams of numerous private and public sector organisations. I’ve been involved in executive coaching for over fifteen years. During this time, I’ve worked directly with over a hundred CEO’s, GM’s and senior managers from the private, public and local government sectors.

I’ve written two books on leadership, "The Dance of Leadership" (2001, 2003) and "The Spirit of Leadership" (2008, 2009, 2013) and a number of international publications.
