Staying healthy while you study is important, and eating well is part of that. This can sometimes seem difficult on a budget, but with forward planning it's possible to eat cheaply and healthily.

Keep your cupboards stocked with the essentials – milk, bread, eggs, rice, pasta, potatoes, a range of vegetables and fruit.

Planning your meals in advance, and making a list for when you go shopping, will ensure you have the items on hand, as well as helping you stick to your budget when in the supermarket.

It can be cheaper to buy in bulk, so look for items that are on special that can be stored or put in the freezer.

Try to avoid shopping at the local dairy or petrol station as the prices are likely to be higher than the supermarket.
