Coursework Masters - MAppSc - in Consumer Food Science

The Applied Science postgraduate programme offers flexible postgraduate study pathways, which are ideal for workers looking to upskill.  

The Department of Food Science offers this programme only in Consumer Food Science.  The prerequisite for entry to this programme is a background of study, or occupational experience or interest specifically in Consumer Food Science.

Three staircased qualifications are available under this suite of programmes:

  • The Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Science (PGCertAppSc) can be completed in one semester.  
  • The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Science (PGDipAppSc) requires 2 semesters of study in total (including any study already taken for a Certificate).  
  • The Masters of Applied Science (MAppSc) generally requires a total of 3 semesters of study (including any previously undertaken for the Certificate or Diploma).  

This Masters is a coursework programme comprising taught papers and a supervised independent study or work-based project.   The MAppSc in Consumer Food Science does not provide a pathway to study for a research-based higher degree.
