Anette has a DPhil in population genetics from the University of Oxford. After postdoctoral research in pure and applied genetics, Anette followed her developing passion for bioinformatics and joined the Oxford University Bioinformatics Centre. Since then she has been involved in leading research and research support in the areas of bioinformatics, genomics and animal productivity. Her past appointments include Acting Manager of the Oxford University Bioinformatics Centre, Section Manager of AgResearch Ltd's Bioinformatics, Mathematics and Statistics section, Acting Section Manager of AgResearch's Animal Genomics/Animal Improvement section and Group Leader of the Animal Productivity Group at AgResearch Ltd. The last appointment also included oversight of AgResearch’s genomics service provider GenomNZ.
Anette has served on a number of Board of Directors, including stints at NeSi and NZGL. Anette’s current role as the "Champion of Research Infrastructure” involves establishing a core research support facility for the University of Otago’s Division of Health Sciences. In March 2017, Anette was appointed as the Acting Director of the Otago Genomics and Bioinformatics Facility.
