OGHI Seed Grants: 2020 Applications now open
Applications for the 2020 OGHI Seed Grants (PDF 500KB) are now open. This round focuses on collaboration with partner sites in Timor-Leste and Fiji.
The Otago Global Health Institute (OGHI) works collaboratively with researchers in under-resourced populations to conduct research that addresses their most pressing health problems. In line with this focus, we invite funding applications to support eligible research initiatives.
OGHI has funding to support two - four small research projects or partnerships with awards of up to $25,000 each, over a one-year period. In addition, OGHI will aim to fund one collaborator from each country to join the OGHI conference in 2020.
Requirements:
• Research teams must consist of at least one OGHI member based at Otago University and one collaborator in Fiji or Timor-Leste.
• The proposal must show evidence that it will lead to a publication.
• Applications must show evidence that they will enhance the chances of ongoing collaboration, such as showing what research might follow.
• Applications that include a collaborator from the National University of Timor-Leste or the Fiji National University would be advantageous.
• Total funding available for each country is $25,000. We will fund either one project or two smaller projects, in each country. As such researchers are welcome to propose two options for each country.
• In order to foster interdisciplinary research, applications which involve two or more departments at the University of Otago would be at an advantage, but not crucial for this call.
• Successful applicants will be required to provide a final written report at the completion of the project. The report should document efforts and findings of the project to OGHI. Project timelines should be projected at 12 months or less.
• Deadline for applications: midday 31 October, 2019. Outcome of applications will be advised by 30 November 2019. Standard payment process begins with a dispersal of 80% of the approved funding request, upon successful execution of the grant agreement; and the final 20% of the grant disbursed upon project completion and successful submission of the Project Final Report.
