Participants Needed for Research Study

Thursday 20 September 2018 2:53pm

Researchers in the Department of Medicine in Dunedin are conducting a trial on whole grains and health for people with type 2 diabetes.

Participants will be given wholegrain foods for periods of two weeks. In one period the whole grains will be quite chunky, in the other period the whole grains will be finely milled. Examples of the foods provided to participants are oats, breads, pasta, and rice.  Over this time the study team will measure blood glucose control, and take a blood sample before and after each two weeks. The researchers are looking for adults who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, who have not changed the amount or type of medication in the last three months. This study has HDEC ethics approval and is being led by Dr Andrew Reynolds.
