Community-based intervention for diabetes patients
"My research focuses on diabetes patients in Indonesia, particularly in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Indonesia has the seventh largest number of diabetes patients in the world. Diabetes affects almost 7% of the adult population. Many people with diabetes have uncontrolled blood glucose levels, and suffer from diabetes-related complications.
"My PhD research aimed to improve diabetes patients' outcomes through an intervention based on community need assessment. I conducted a focus group study to explore diabetic patients’ perceptions related to the disease, and their experiences in managing their illness. I then designed, implemented and evaluated a community-based intervention for diabetes."
