OverviewThe Well in Welcome poster thumbnail

This lecture examines the worldwide Refugees Welcome movement in the context of creating a flourishing, inclusive society founded on principles of well-being. Using poetry, image and music, this lecture will consider how wellness is made within the precarious contexts of flight, the fraught spaces of arrival and integration, and in the philosophies of societies.

The lecture is presented jointly by the Centre for Global Migrations, University of Otago, and Victoria University of Wellington.

Speaker – Professor Alison Phipps, University of Glasgow

Professor Alison Phipps is the UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She is the University of Otago's 2019 De Carle Distinguished Lecturer.
