All research uses resources (staff, procedures, equipment, admin supplies etc). The Southern DHB, in particular, is not funded at all to carry out research and so all costs must be identified and covered.

In general:

  • If the funding for the research is a grant, the costing must be carried out on a University of Otago costing worksheet (CCW). Contact your Research Adviser to work through this process.
  • If the research is a commercial trial the costing will be carried out on a NZACRes Clinical Trials Costing Tool. Contact the HRS Research Office to work through this process.
  • If the funding comes from elsewhere (e.g. internal departmental funds), you can develop your own costing layout.
