Welcome to the Division of Health Sciences, University of Otago. Our mission is to provide New Zealand society and other communities with a highly qualified workforce in the health professions, and contribute nationally and internationally through providing the highest quality research, teaching and scholarship.

The Division of Health Sciences consists of the Otago Medical School, the Faculty of Dentistry, the School of Pharmacy and the School of Physiotherapy.

Our teaching and learning programmes provide a diverse range of qualifications leading to careers as doctors, dentists, pharmacists, physiotherapists and medical laboratory scientists.

The Division also provides programmes in the areas of radiation therapy, dental technology, oral health and biomedical sciences.

All of our programmes include substantial clinical or laboratory-based learning providing you with the experiences, skills, knowledge and attributes necessary to prepare you for a rewarding and successful career as a healthcare provider.

Health Sciences graduates from the University of Otago are well respected throughout the world for their skills, and their clinical and research excellence.

As well as undergraduate programmes, postgraduate training programmes and research programmes leading to Masters and Doctoral qualifications and to further professional practice qualifications are available.

Research activity is a core component of the Division and our researchers are internationally acknowledged for undertaking ground-breaking research of direct relevance to patients. The Division enjoys close research collaborations with many departments within the University and with other institutions and groups within New Zealand and internationally.
