Communication techniques teaching to nursing students, and the subsequent avoidance of workplace violence is currently being researched in conjunction with colleagues in practice. Preliminary results have been presented at conference and the research continues with a new cohort of students in 2020.

In conjunction with the Canterbury DHB I have taken the lead role in a research group assessing a pressure injury prevention link nurse program carried out in 2019. A paper from this research is currently being written. This has led to an interest in the teaching of quality improvement to nursing students and how this is presented in nursing competencies.
