Research summary
Neuropsychology: Cognitive and psychological aspects of neurological conditions

Research

I’m an English-trained Clinical Psychologist, but have gone on to specialise in Clinical Neuropsychology, before moving to Wellington in 2012.

I have a background in research in Intensive Care Medicine, Intellectual Disabilities and Autism (all of which I am still interested in!), but have more recently looked to specialise in the field of Applied Neuropsychology - particularly its practice in the New Zealand context. Much of my clinical work has been in brain injury and stroke rehabilitation settings, including inpatient and community rehabilitation.

I have a strong interest in bi-cultural and person-centred / co-designed approaches to rehabilitation and the design of services in general. I’d be keen to hear from other researchers, clinicians and potential PhD students with an interest in those fields, and I have a particular interest in supporting research by individuals with ‘lived experience’ of neurological conditions.

Particular areas of research interest:

  • Applied Neuropsychology (particularly in the New Zealand context)
  • Psychological aspects of concussion, brain injury and stroke rehabilitation
  • Cognitive and psychological impacts of acquired and developmental neurological conditions, including exposure to common neurotoxins
