Research summary | Medical Education, Quality Assurance, Assessment, Global health, Estrogenic effects (science) |
Teaching | Dr Gulliver convenes the Integrated Case Programme for Early Learning in Medicine at the Otago Medical School. Apart from convening and teaching second and third year medical students, Linda is also the Dunedin Medical Campus Lead for Interprofessional Education. This role sees her in collaboration with several different disciplines undertaking Health Professional Education to expand and develop inter-professional learning opportunities. |

Clinical | Dr Gulliver is a New Zealand Registered Nurse. She practiced for 20 years both in the United States and NZ in all specialties until embarking on a science and thereafter a medical education career. |
Research
Dr Gulliver's main research interests revolve around medical education quality assurance (e.g. in Infection Prevention and Control), assessment, and Interprofessional Education for collaborative practice. She aims, through research in these areas, to grow the evidence base for developing aspects of the medical and health professional curricula.
Her PhD research focused on the short- and longer-term effects of estradiol on the ovarian surface epithelium relevant to the development of ovarian epithelial cancer. Dr Gulliver has continued collaborations within this field and this has involved her in research groups looking at global health issues such as the effects of low dose mixtures of chemicals in the environment and their potential for cancer causation, and how health status alters pituitary function and reproductive status in a cytokine-dependent manner.
Additional details
Dr Gulliver works within the Centre for Early Learning in Medicine (years 2 and 3 of MB ChB Otago).
